Place-based Nature Interpretation
I managed content development, design and installation of new signage and a phone app to provide the public with rich and educational experiences at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary (Canberra, Australia). This was developed with Locales – a place-based visitor experience business from Wellington, New Zealand.
Each way-finding and audio marker had the cut-out silhouette of a locally extinct species. I developed this idea to bring attention to the reality of extinction – they are the ‘holes in the landscape’. Telling the stories of these animals encourages people to care about what they stand to lose in the future, but also inspires the community to support us in returning them to Canberra.
