Light in the Dark

Rainforests are made up of thick layers of plants and trees that depend on light for energy. Each plant species has a different technique to reach for the sun. They weave and sway and wind around each other – all desperately searching for golden rays to photosynthesise. This journey into the sunshine usually goes unnoticed when we stroll through a thick path of greenery, but if you look closely, you’ll notice how alive the rainforest really is.

I took these photographs in Far North Queensland, the Blue Mountains (Australia) and Stewart Island/Rakiura (NZ). They were presented in an exhibition titled ‘Light in the Dark’ in Canberra, 2016.
